Residents in Peterborough can support children in need this festive season through a collaborative Christmas scheme.
For the third consecutive year, Peterborough City Council has partnered with the charity Barnardo's to install a Christmas Giving Tree in the reception area of Sand Martin House.
From 3 November until 4 December, people can head to Sand Martin House and use the tree to help donate gifts to children in the Peterborough area.
To lend a hand to 2026’s Giving Tree, simply take a name tag from the tree and buy a present (or as many gifts as you would like).
Bring the unwrapped present back to reception, and it will be collected by the Barnardo’s team, who distribute the gifts to local families in time for Christmas.
Councillor Katy Cole, cabinet member for children’s services for Peterborough City Council, said,
“Christmas is a magical time for many of our residents, but especially the city’s young people. The Giving Tree is the perfect way to make the celebrations as special as possible and ensure children who are less fortunate have something to look forward to this December.”
The charity receives referrals from other charities, children’s social care, health visits, midwifery, targets support, preschools, nurseries, schools and family support workers.
